Treatment / Embolization

Embolization

Embolization is a minimally invasive treatment performed by an interventional radiologist (IR) used to prevent blood flow to an area of the body in order to shrink a tumor or obstruct an aneurysm.

With the help of X-ray guidance your IR will navigate the artery with a small flexible tube (catheter); once the treatment area is identified the doctor will deploy small plastic particles, glue, metal coils, foam, or balloon through the catheter to seal off the faulty blood vessel.

Embolization Treatment Options

Endovascular (within the blood vessel) embolization is a treatment used in many areas of the body and helps to improve a patient’s symptoms. Below are some of the embolization treatment options performed by physicians at IVC.
